NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety

Who Should Attend?construction site 

The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is aimed at those who work within the construction industry with health and safety responsibilities (eg. managers, supervisors and CDM Co-ordinators) to enable them to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions.

The construction certificate is also beneficial for those concerned with the management of buildings who are responsible for ensuring that contractors are working safely.

Course Overview

The course provides a solid foundation in health and safety, covering 17 modules comprising;

NGC1 – Management of Health & Safety
  • Element 1 – Foundations in Health & Safety
  • Element 2 – Health & Safety Management Systems 1 - Policy
  • Element 3 – Health & Safety Management Systems 2 - Organising
  • Element 4 – Health & Safety Management Systems 3 - Planning & Implementing
  • Element 5 – Health & Safety Management Systems 4 - Measuring, Reviewing & Auditing
NCC1 – Managing and Controlling Construction Hazards                      (this is the Conversion element for those already holding NGC1)
  • Element 1 – Construction Law and Management
  • Element 2 - Construction Activities - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 3 - Movement of People and Vehicles - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 4 – Manual and Mechanical Handling- Hazards and Controls
  • Element 5 – Work Equipment - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 6 – Electricity - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 7 – Fire - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 8 – Chemical and Biological Hazards and Controls
  • Element 9 – Physical and Psychological Health Hazards and Controls
  • Element 10 – Work at Height - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 11 - Excavation work and Confined Spaces - Hazards and Controls
  • Element 12 - Demolition Hazards and Controls

Certification

There are examinations comprising two written theory papers (Papers NGC1 and NCC1) each lasting 2 hours to be completed on the examination day, and a practical assessment (NCC2). The practical assessment involves undertaking a safety inspection of a workplace and preparing a management report.

Those undertaking the Construction CONVERSION only need to undertake NCC1 and NCC2

15 days inclusive of examination day

(10 days inclusive of examination day for CONVERSION course)

Fee: £1495 + VAT per delegate (for attendance to SMC open courses)
