National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

 

Introduction

Diploma nationalThe NEBOSH National Diploma is NEBOSH's flagship course and is specifically designed for health and safety professionals. Since its introduction in 1988 it has become established as the most popular qualification of its kind, with over 10,000 students having successfully gained the Diploma.

The qualification meets the academic requirements to apply for Graduate Membership (Grad IOSH) of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). This is the first step to becoming a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner as a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH). It also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) as meeting the academic requirements for full membership (MIIRSM).

Who Should undertake the course

The NEBOSH National Diploma is the qualification for aspiring health and safety professionals, building directly upon the foundation of knowledge provided by the NEBOSH National General Certificate. It is designed to provide students with the expertise required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner and also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study.

Course Overview

The qualification is divided into four units, each of which is assessed separately:New Course Price 1250 diploma

Unit A: Managing health and safety
Unit B: Hazardous agents in the workplace
Unit C: Workplace and work equipment safety
Unit D: Application of health and safety theory and practice

Students may choose to take individual units in any order over a five year period and will be awarded a unit certificate for each unit passed.

There no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however achievement of the National General Certificate or direct equivalent prior to undertaking the Diploma course is highly recommended.

Course Materials

Course materials are provided in a format to suit each delegate, either by e-learning (access to internet required) or traditional distance learning.

Keyboard Educate

For the E-learning route, students are provided with access to our interactive e-learning platform which contains all the course notes, coursework and a number of videos.

For Distance learning, students are provided with course books and a file of coursework, including a memory stick containing additional useful resources.

Coursework to be submitted can be completed online or submitted by post or email. Both routes contain the following resources to provide students with the best chance of success throughout the course period;

  • Homework Questions for submission and marking 
  • Exercises for submission and marking 
  • Sample Questions for extra practice (not for submission)
  • List of Further reading resources (free publications and websites)

Delegate Support

 

You will be supported throughout your studies by our highly experienced NEBOSH tutors. A tutor will be assigned to you on induction and will be your contact for technical enquires during your studies. We will also contact you regularly to determine your progress.

 

Support is available via a variety of media, such as telephone, email and web conferencing software, so that you can be assured someone is there to assist you should the need arise.

 

Course Duration

The recommended study time for the Course is 468 hours of learning and research, and although we do not stipulate over what period that the delegate studies for the course we recommend that a delegate takes a minimum of 18 months to study and take all 4 Units.

Examinations

Units A, B and C are each assessed by a three-hour written examination. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH. Examinations are held in January and July and can be taken at a number of venues throughout the UK and Internationally. Unit D is a workplace-based assignment requiring application of learning across the syllabus, and is submitted following the examinations.

Fee: £1500 + VAT on offer £1250+VAT per delegate (plus £379 NEBOSH registration and exam fees)
