Welcome to the Blog on the brand new Safety Management Consultancy website. We hope that if you are looking for Health and Safety Consultancy or Health and Safety Training, you find the site very useful.

We have a philosophy of a fresh and dynamic approcah to Health and Safety Management and hope that this is very much reflected in the look and style of the site.

The Consultancy section contains details of the services that we offer including our retainer packages for ‘Competent’ Adviser Support. The Training section contains the details of our accredited courses (from NEBOSH and IOSH) in addition to the bespoke training that can be delivered in-house.

First Aid at Work Certificate

Who should attend

Aimed at the individuals who may have overall charge of First Aid or for individuals within large companies or companies with potentially hazardous working environments. This is the HSE Approved First Aid at Work certificte course.

Course Objectives

The course is based on group work with a lot of practical activity, enhancing the learning of the skills required in a fun but formal way. The course will cover:

  • Accidents and illness
  • Using a first aid kit
  • Simple record keeping
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Heart attacks
  • Resuscitation
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Fractures
  • Seizures
  • Asthma
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Eye injuries
  • Low blood sugar
  • Fainting

 

Duration

Delivered over 3 days and achieved by successfully completing an examination and individual practical assessment.

Fee: £165 + VAT per delegate (for attendance to SMC open courses)

NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health

Who Should Attend?

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is aimed at those with health and safety responsibilities (eg. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) to enable them to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions. The NEBOSH certificate is one of the most recognised qualifications in the health and safety profession.

Course Overview 

The course provides a solid foundation in health and safety, covering 13 modules comprising

Unit 1 – Management of Health & Safety
  • Element 1 – Foundations in Health & Safety
  • Element 2 – Health & Safety Management Systems 1 - Policy
  • Element 3 – Health & Safety Management Systems 2 - Organising
  • Element 4 – Health & Safety Management Systems 3 - Planning & Implementing
  • Element 5 – Health & Safety Management Systems 4 - Measuring, Reviewing & Auditing
Unit 2 – Controlling Workplace Hazards
  • Element 1 – Movement of People & Vehicles
  • Element 2 – Manual and Mechanical Handling
  • Element 3 – Work Equipment
  • Element 4 – Electricity
  • Element 5 – Fire
  • Element 6 – Chemical and Biological Hazards
  • Element 7 – Physical and Psychological Health Hazards
  • Element 8 – Construction Activities

Certification

There are examinations comprising two written theory papers (Papers NGC1 and NGC2) each lasting 2 hours to be completed on the examination day, and a practical assessment (NGC3). The practical assessment involves undertaking a safety inspection of a workplace and preparing a management report.

11 days inclusive of examination day
